Volunteer Positions

  • Coach - Saturday Morning Soccer (U4-U8)

    Are you interested in coaching or assisting a team throughout the soccer season (Saturday mornings only)? This is for U4, U6, & U8 teams. Contact Saturday Morning Coordinators, Sam & Mike for more info.

    Location: Durham Main Soccer Field Date: End of May - Early August (Exact dates TBD) Time: 9:20am-10:30am (U4/U6), 9:20m-11am (U8)

  • Coach - Weeknight Soccer (U8 Travel, U10-U18)

    Are you interested in coaching or assisting a U10, U12, U15, or U18 soccer team this season? There is some travel to local towns in the area, weekly practices, and a ton of reward in investing in our local youth!

    Location: Durham & Surrounding Towns Date: May-August Time: 2 Nights/week (1 game & 1 practice)

  • Equipment & Information Supervisor - U4 & U6

    This position requires you to keep track of equipment at the beginning & end of the seasons as it is borrowed & returned by coaches (e.g., balls, pylons, etc.). It also entails handing out newsletters, pictures, & correspondence to coaches or players.

    Time: Saturdays 9:20am & 10:20am - all season

  • Equipment & Information Supervisor - U8

    This position requires you to keep track of equipment at the beginning & end of the seasons as it is borrowed & returned by coaches (e.g., balls, pylons, etc.). It also entails handing out newsletters, pictures, & correspondence to coaches or players.

    Time: Saturdays 9:25am & 11:05am - all season

  • Executive & Board Positions

    We have a number of rewarding roles within our board and executive. Please see our “West Grey Board, Executives, Sponsors” about page for more information.

  • Field Clean Up - Start of Season

    ***FILLED*** This position requires people who are interested in helping pick up garbage, recycle, replace/paint bleachers, clean/prepare washrooms, dig up weeds, put meshes on nets, sort equipment, and/or anything that needs done to prepare the field and/or pavilion for the season.

    Place: Durham Soccer Field/Pavilion
    Time: 10am-12pm
    Date: TBD (Usually first Saturday in May)

  • Field Clean Up - End of Season

    This position requires people who are interested in helping pick up garbage, recycle, take off meshes from nets, clean washrooms for winter, straighten up pavilion, etc.

    Place: Durham Soccer Field/Pavilion
    Time: 10am-12pm
    Date: TBD (Usually late September)

  • Field Lining

    ***FILLED*** Are you interested in lining the fields for the start of the season? This position is for you!

    Place: Durham Soccer Field
    Time: 10am-1pm
    Date: TBD (usually first Saturday in May)

  • Garbage & Recycling

    Garbage and recycling is to be bagged and ready to go to the dump. Requires bags to be changed, garbage to be picked up from parking lot, field, under bleachers, in concession and from washrooms.

    Every Saturday in May & June (5hrs total)
    Every Saturday in July & August (5hrs total)

  • Parent Rep - U8 Travel, U10 & Up

    Parent reps deliver correspondence to players of their team, prepare snacks and pavilion schedules, contact players/parents in the event of game cancellations or of any upcoming events, etc. You are the coach's right hand person!

    Duration: for the whole season

  • Photo Day Assistant

    This position requires someone to help organize teams/kids, assist the photographer and basically just keep things running smoothly and on time.

    Place: Main Soccer Field Date: June (exact date TBD) Time: TBD

  • Snack Booth - Saturday Morning Soccer

    This position requires someone to run the snack booth - sell products, empty garbage in the booth etc. You are to make sure that the cash box is in the hands of the pavilion/Saturday morning coordinator or second shift person before you leave the building. There will be 2 shifts to cover the morning.

    Location: Main Soccer Field Pavilion Date: Each Saturday Morning for the Soccer Season Time: 9:20am-10:15am & 10:15am-11:10am

  • Saturday Morning Media

    This position requires someone to take photos at the first Saturday morning, U8 tournament, & fun day. Must write a small article or caption & is responsible for getting this information to the West Grey Soccer Club volunteer coordinator for publishing.

    Place: Main Soccer Field Dates: One day in May, June, & August (exact dates will be posted soon)

  • Saturday Morning Soccer Fun Day

    This position requires people to help set up, run an activity, BBQ, clean up, and help make the day run smoothly.

    Place: Main Soccer Field Date: 1st or 2nd Saturday in August (TBD) Time: 9:30am-12:30pm

  • Team Media - Travel Teams

    This position requires someone to take photos for their designated team during the soccer season. Must write small articles or captions and is responsible for getting this information to the West Grey Soccer Club volunteer coordinator for publishing. Minimum of 5 submissions for 5 hours over the course of the season.

  • U4 & U6 Popsicles

    ***FILLED*** This position requires someone to be at the pavilion at the end of each U4 & U6 Saturday morning session to hand out popsicles. Popsicles are free of charge to players & coaches. Non-Saturday morning participants are welcome to make a purchase at the pavilion.

    Place: Main Soccer Field Pavilion Date: End of May to End of July (Exact Dates TBD) Time: Approx. 10:15am-10:30am

  • U8 Popsicles

    ***FILLED*** This position requires someone to be at the pavilion at the end of the U8 Saturday morning session to hand out popsicles. Popsicles are free of charge to players & coaches. Non-Saturday morning participants are welcome to make a purchase at the pavilion.

    Place: Main Soccer Field Pavilion Date: End of May to End of July (Exact Dates TBD) Time: Approx. 11am-11:15am

  • Washrooms (Saturday Mornings)

    This position requires someone to maintain the general clean up and supervision of the washroom facilities (e.g., changing toilet paper, paper towels, emptying garbage, sweeping & cleaning of toilets & sinks etc. (5 hrs. total)

    Place: Main Field Pavilion
    Dates: End of May - Early August (Exact Dates TBD)
    Times: preferrably towards the end of Saturday morning sessions.

  • Year End Banquet

    This position requires people to help with setting up and taking down decorations, preparation and clean up of venue, planning and serving food, handing out leftover pictures, helping to hand out trophies/medallions etc. (3 hrs).

    Date & Time: TBD (usually a Saturday in Late Aug/Early Sept.

  • U8 Tournament

    This position requires people to help set up, run an activity, BBQ, clean up afterwards, help make the day run smoothly, and any other tasks that may need assistance.

    Date: A Saturday in June (Exact Date TBD)
    Time: Varies throughout the day
